Still the one to beat in the sand

★★★★★
Took the GXR 3.5 twin-turbo to Sealine the first weekend. The 409 hp is more than I expected from a V6 and the E-KDSS keeps it flat through the dunes in a way my old 200 never managed. Cabin is comfortable rather than luxurious, and the 8-inch screen looks small next to what Nissan puts in the Patrol now. At QAR 310,000 for this grade I still think it is the smarter money.

GX at QAR 238,700 is the value grade

★★★★☆
I went for the base 4.0L GX because the resale on Land Cruisers in Qatar is unmatched. The 271 hp is enough for the road, and the 10-speed automatic hides how old that engine is. You give up a lot of kit against the VX. If you can stretch to the turbo the difference in the dunes is night and day.
