Team Qatar wins LMGT3 at Silverstone and takes the European Le Mans Series lead
Abdulla Al-Khelaifi's pole and the #62 Mercedes-AMG's victory in the 4 Hours of Silverstone put Team Qatar by Iron Lynx top of the standings with one round left.
Team Qatar by Iron Lynx won the LMGT3 class at the Goodyear 4 Hours of Silverstone, round five of the 2026 European Le Mans Series, and moved to the top of the championship with one race to go. Qatari driver Abdulla Al-Khelaifi took pole position on Saturday with a lap of 2:00.011, his third LMGT3 pole of the season. Sharing the #62 Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 with Julian Hanses and Ralf Aron, he then converted it into the class win on Sunday. The team arrived at Silverstone third in the standings, six points behind the leader. The victory, plus the bonus point for pole, lifts Team Qatar to 73 points and the championship lead. The season closes at Portimão in Portugal on 10 October, where the title will be decided. Team Qatar's programme is the sharp end of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation's push to put Qatari drivers on international grids, and follows the team's debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier in the year.
